International Electrical Engineering Regulation - (I.E.E. Regulation)

01. Live wire should always be mounted on the right side of the switch.

02. The live socket should be connected to the right side of the socket outlet

03. Earth wire should be connected to metal covered electrical appliances.

04. Sub circuits should be clearly mentioned on the distribution board.

05. All low voltage devices should be clearly mentioned.

06. If there is more than one sub-circuit they should be connected to the

     distribution board.

07. Neutral wire circuits of the distribution board should be connected in an

      orderly manner

08. Aluminum conductors should not be in direct contact with copper conductors.

09. For PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) cables the temperature should not exceed 60C.

10. Power should be supplied to the hanging electrical equipment through

      flexible wires.

11. Oil-filled electrical equipment should be installed no more than 30 meters

      away from buildings

12. Do not install fixtures inside the bathroom. (If necessary, make sure that no

      water enters the socket.)

13. All underground joints should be welded with lead.

14. The outlet or telephone outlet should be mounted at a height of more than

       300mm from the ground.

15. The distance from permanently installed electrical equipment to their main

      switch should be less than 2m.

16. Live wires in sub-circuits should be connected via fuse or thin circuits and

      switches.

17. Neutral fuse should never be inserted into the neutral wire and a two pole

      switch can be connected to the live wire if required.

18. Earth wire should never be connected through fuses and switches.

19. Maximum Voltage Drop in domestic power supply should be less than 2.5%

      of supply voltage.

20. Switch, Dimmer switch, Fan Regulator should be installed at a height of

      1,520 mm from the floor.

21. The consumer unit should be mounted at a height of 1,680 mm from the

       ground.

22. Lamps should be installed at a height of 2,400 mm from the floor.

23. Fans should be installed at a height of 2,400 mm from the floor.

24. The minimum height at which wall lamps should be mounted is 2,290 mm.

25. The minimum height at which the exhaust fan can be installed is 2,400 mm.

26. The minimum height at which the cooker control switch should be installed is

      1,370 mm.

27. The minimum height at which the bedside switches (Switches, Dimmer

      switches, Fan Regulator) should be installed is 1,370 mm.

28. The meter should be installed in a place easily accessible to CEB officials.

29. The smallest underground wire cross section area that can be applied in an

      electrical installation is 2.5mm2.

30. The insulation resistance between the cables of a newly wired house should

      be at least 1MΩ.
