Types of Earthing Systems

Image
Standards Used for Earthing Systems Definitions Over the past century, Electrical Safety Standards have evolved into highly developed systems that cover all the major aspects for a safe installation, including Earthing Systems. In Low-voltage (LV) Electrical Installations, the reference standard IEC 60364 is used for the measures to be implemented to guarantee the protection of personnel and property. The IEC 60364 standard has defined three types of Earthing Systems, namely TT, IT, and TN systems. Since IEC publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic, and related technologies and is the leading international organization in its field, IEC 60364 is the apex level document that informs the standards for LV Electrical Installations around the world. Therefore, the three types of earthing systems defined in IEC 60364 are also recognised in many national standards. International Electrical Engineering Regulation - (I.E.E. Regulation)

International Electrical Engineering Regulation - (I.E.E. Regulation) 01. Live wire should always be mounted on the right side of the switch. 02. The live socket should be connected to the right side of the socket outlet 03. Earth wire should be connected to metal covered electrical appliances. 04. Sub circuits should be clearly mentioned on the distribution board. 05. All low voltage devices should be clearly mentioned. 06. If there is more than one sub-circuit they should be connected to the      distribution board. 07. Neutral wire circuits of the distribution board should be connected in an       orderly manner 08. Aluminum conductors should not be in direct contact with copper conductors. 09. For PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) cables the temperature should not exceed 60C. 10. Power should be supplied to the hanging electrical equipment through       flexible wires. 11. Oil-filled electrical equipment should be installed no more than 30 meters ...

Electric motor  An electric motor is a machine used to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy. Electric motors are important to modern-day life, being used in vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, computer printers, fax machines, water pumps, manufacturing, cars (both conventional and hybrid), machine tools, printing presses, subway systems, and more. Electric motors can be powered by direct current (DC) sources, such as from batteries, motor vehicles or rectifiers, or by alternating current (AC) sources, such as a power grid, inverters or electrical generators. Electric motors may be classified by considerations such as power source type, internal construction, application and type of motion output. In addition to AC versus DC types, motors may be brushed or brushless, may be of various phase (see single-phase, two-phase, or three-phase), and may be either air-cooled or liquid-cooled. Classification of induction motors Three phase induction motor Three phase induction motor...
